Fox News fires O'Reilly after sexual harassment claims. Bill O'Reilly, the star Fox News Channel presenter, was abruptly dismissed this week after multiple allegations of sexual harassment and the revelation that he and the cable network paid $13m to silence his accusers, writes Shannon Bond in New York. The unravelling of Mr O'Reilly's career after 22 years at Fox News is the latest blow to the crown jewel of Rupert Murdoch's media empire. Mr O'Reilly has been a valuable asset for the network, raking in advertising revenue at The O'Reilly Factor, the most-watched cable news programme in the US. Fox News is 21st Century Fox's most profitable brand, contributing nearly a quarter of its owner's total operating profit, according to analysts.
