UK newspaper publisher Reach to cut 550 jobs
The UK publisher that owns newspapers including The Daily Mirror and The Daily Express is planning to cut 550 jobs as it struggles with the effects of falling sales and advertising during the pandemic. As well as cutting 12 per cent of its workforce, Reach also plans to close some of its offices and centralise operations. Reach is now the UK's largest local newspaper publisher. The changes announced on Tuesday would generate savings of £35m a year but cost £20m to implement, Reach said. Reach has bought a number of titles in the past few years.
