There are many more open-ended funds than closed-end investment trusts that market themselves as sustainable. In a list of what it considers the 40 best ethical funds, investment platform Interactive Investor names only three trusts - Impax Environmental Markets, Pacific Assets Trust and Syncona. There are three equity trusts in its Environmental sector and 14 trusts in Renewable Energy Infrastructure. Menhaden is a concentrated trust that launched in July 2015, and managed by Ben Goldsmith, co-founder of sustainable specialist asset manager WHEB. Investment trusts are a way to invest in renewable energy infrastructure - a sector difficult for retail investors to access.
