WHSmith warns of tough 2021 but better 2022
Newsagent WHSmith warned that current year profit will be at the lower end of market expectations as its key travel markets remain slow to recover. For the year just ended, WHSmith said results will be slightly ahead of expectations. WHSmith said it remains confident in revenues returning to pre-Covid levels in the next two to three years. Menzies swung back into profitability at the half year, posting a £4.7m pre-tax profit versus an £80.1m loss a year ago. Steelmaker Severfield said trading in the first five months of its 2022 financial year has continued to be positive and in line with management's expectations.
