Subway (UK)
Subway is an American fast food restaurant franchise that primarily sells submarine sandwiches and salads. It is owned and operated by Doctor's Associates, Inc. Subway is one of the fastest growing franchises in the world with 40,229 restaurants in 102 countries and territories as of 11 September 2013. It is the largest single-brand restaurant chain and the largest restaurant operator globally.
Common complaints
Halal Meats
In April 2014 Subway announced that 185 of its stores in the UK would only serve Halal meats, which has upset a number of customers. It should be noted that this does not affect all stores, and the stores which are serving Halal meat only are using meat which is stunned before slaughter as required by EU animal welfare standards.
